Located in the Chocó Cloud Forest along the equator, temperatures are fairly consistent
year-round with lows at 18 °C and highs reaching 25 °C.
The best time to visit is during the dry season which consists of the months of June to early November, yet you should
be aware that it still rains during these months. November through May is when the forest receives more rain with
February being the peak, therefore it’s recommended to not visit during this month.

Early Morning Wildlife Observation For early risers, head up to the hotel's terrace where you will find naturalist guides equipped with binoculars and scopes ready to assist you in spotting the spectacular diverse wildlife hidden between the fog. Life Center Mashpi Lodge offers guests the opportunity to visit the life center which houses nearly 100 different endemic orchid species. Interact with the various butterfly species inhabiting the center that is only a 30-minute walk (or short car ride) from the lodge. You’ll be able to have incredible views of the Chocó Cloud Forest along with amazing opportunities to spot wildlife.

The Dragonfly Canopy Gondola Mashpi Lodge offers the unique opportunity to soar through the Choclo cloud forest. Through a 2-kilometer gondola line, guests can observe wildlife from the forest canopy along for some incredible views. Guides are even able to stop the gondola allowing nature enthusiasts to experience longer observation periods.

Magnolia Trail & Falls Near the Mashpi Lodge, you can find many short yet stunning trails. Enjoy the beauty as you walk along a well-maintained trail full of towering Mashpi Magnolia trees to arrive at the crystal-clear waterfall. Jump into the cool, refreshing pool being fed fresh water from the falls. For guests feeling too relaxed to make the hike back, there is always the option of taking the gondola back to the lodge.
