I just wanted to say that our trip to the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Cusco was nothing short of spectacular. There’s a very strong, positive energy in these areas, and we all felt it. Meeting with the locals was… truly the highlight of this trip (in addition to our long-awaited trip to Machu Picchu). We felt an immediate connection with Ruben, which grew stronger over the course of our trip. My children are already talking about how they will miss him, and of course, Michael and I share that sentiment. He’s truly passionate about sharing his knowledge about his beloved country, and that was evident each and every day. We appreciated his patience (my weak knees often slowed all of us down), professionalism, and genuine heart. Thank you Kuoda! Realmente fue espectacular!!!!
Los primeros dos dias en Lima nos encantó el tour gastronómico con Kimberly. Es una chica super amena, nos explicó de una manera muy profesional pero casual y nos sentimos muy a gusto con ella, conversamos de varios temas en… los cuales se notaba su gran conocimiento de la historia de Perú. El hotel nos gusto muchisimo y de vuelta el ultimo día nos dieron una habitación con vista al mar. Luego llegamos a Cusco: El camino Inca me mega fascinó, bastante fuerte pero super cómodo con nuestro guía estrella…… Santiago!!!! El primer dia que vimos las salineras y el Moray nos gusto muchisimo. Tambien paramos en un pequeño mercado fascinante. El lugar del almuerzo espectacular, la atención excelente. El hotel del Valle Sagrado es hermoso. Su desayuno muy bueno!! Luego para ir a Machu Pichu nos encantó el tren, lo único, que estaba de espalda para donde se movia el tren y me dió un poquito de mareo. De regreso Santiago buscó para pasarnos a uno mas vacío y de frente y me fue super bien. El hotel de Aguas Calientes es hermoso!!!! Por la noche entraron unos insectos super pequeñitos, pero no son muchos y lo manejamos sin ningún problema. El restaurante que da servicio al hotel, muuuuy bueno también. Luego en la tarde del próximo día fuimos a los lugares de Cusco…… muy lindos e interesantes. El hotel Palacio del Inca. FABULOSO!!!! . Luego para la montaña de Siete Colores, el lugar del desayuno esplendido y la atención buenísima. El camino de 10 hrs que me tenia con stress (Puno) lo pasé super bien. Los lugares en que nos detuvimos hermosos y Santiago y Juan hicieron que el camino ni se sintiera que eran tantas horas. Tuvimos un percance pq cerraron una carretera, pero Juan y Santiago manejaron la situación buscando otro camino, que me encantó porque era por unas fincas y se veían animales y vegetación. Santiago y Juan fueron las estrellas de nuestro viaje. Nos hicieron sentir de la familia y teníamos muchísimas confianza con los dos. Los chicos son EXCELENTES!!!!! Luego llegamos a Puno y conocimos a Jose Luis. Que chico cariñoso, conocedor y humilde. Se comunicó el dia antes por medio de Santiago, nos llamó al hotel y coordinó todo para el otro dia y nos fué de show!!!! Ya se porque Taquile es uno de tus lugares favoritos . No hay mas nada que decir que no sea WOW!!!!! Y el lugar del almuerzo me enamoró . Una experiencia inolvidable. Luego regresamos a Lima, yo había realizado una reservación para el restaurante de Astrid y Gaston. Los muchachos del hotel nos consiguieron el Taxi y cenamos allí. También la pasamos super bien y nos regalaron un sorbet de salmon porque estabamos celebrando nuestro aniversario #30 . En fin Nadia…….. Quisiera tener todos los viajes con ustedes de ahora en adelante. No sabes el peso que me quitaron de encima y como bien me dijiste: No me tuve que preocupar por NADA!!!! Sorry for the the delay! Yes, we’re home safe! We had an amazing time! So glad we stayed in Amantani as you suggested (I was lost nervous about that) and it was incredible. Thank you for the recipes! I’m happy… to share more insights if you have questions about anything in particular. The entire trip was really well planned and we had an amazing time. I think my one criticism would be Posada Amazonas. We loved our guide there Raul so so much, he was fantastic and we saw the coolest things. However the lodge itself was a bit lacking. There was never enough water available considering how hot it was and everything felt pretty bare bones. I would also highly recommend telling clients to bring a small battery powered fan. It was so hot and humid at night sleeping was really a challenge. That being said, I really like that the lodge gives so much money to the local community and works with them because that really supports a sustainable view of ecotourism that Kels and I both support. It probably didn’t help that I got so sick there. It was actually my last night that I got super sick around 4 am. We were just determined to make it out of the jungle but I’m so glad Karina suggested the clinic in Cusco because I was pretty sick and definitely needed the stop. Also Kels and I think we could have done just 2 nights there and been happy. We saw sooooo much because we were up at 4 every morning so I think we were pretty jungle-d out by our last day. Especially since we probably slept 4-5 hours every night. I absolutely loved the Andes probably the best of the trip but that was definitely due to Karina. She was wonderful. Like I said, Amantani was amazing. I wouldn’t have wanted to go to Puno without going there. I think that’s all for now. We truly loved our trip and the Kuoda team was awesome all throughout. One highlight (which was unexpected) was the trip to the village to meet the women who make the yarn/fabrics from scratch using only things found in nature.… It truly touched our entire family. The lunch was delicious at Tatiana’s house but we did not interact with anyone other than the waitstaff and Boris/the driver. It felt a bit more like going to a restaurant. A bit more guidance about what to pack would have been helpful. I went overboard and had a vest, down jacket, hat and gloves for everyone (I realize it’s hard to anticipate the weather). It was truly an amazing experience and the guides at each location (meeting us at the airport, accompanying us in towns were so helpful). I thought Bart was the strongest of our guides followed by Hugo at Inkaterra Amazonica. I honestly was not prepared for the extent of the heat/humidity and lack of AC but quickly adapted. I have already recommended Kuoda to several people who have seen our pictures on IG/FB. Thanks again for helping to make the trip so special.
