When your flight arrives in Santiago, a Kuoda host will welcome you personally and escort you to the hotel. Instead of navigating a new city after a long flight, let us take care of the transportation logistics. Start your trip with some relaxed exploration of the city as you encounter the vivid culture of Chile’s capital.
We will drop you off at your hotel so you can refresh and enjoy a peaceful evening before your adventurous journey begins. Relax with a good night’s rest.
Discover the alluring town of Valparaíso as you stroll through bohemian neighborhoods decorating Chile’s Pacific coast. This picturesque city was declared World Heritage by UNESCO thanks to its quirky features and historic landmarks.
On the way to Valparaiso, we’ll make a stop in the Casablanca Valley to learn about the local winemaking process of cool coastal white varieties like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. After a delectable tasting, you’ll get to wander Valparaíso and stroll through Viña del Mar, a paradise frozen in time.
Today we will escort you to the airport so you can take your flight south and begin an epic Patagonian expedition. After landing, you will head to Torres del Paine National Park and venture to your luxury accommodations. Once you’ve settled in, the hosts at Tierra Patagonia will sit down to explore the menu of activities available during your stay.
Today you will be able to choose from the activities offered by Tierra Patagonia. We suggest trekking the landscape to see Mirador Cuernos.
After a scenic drive passing the Sarmiento and Nordenskjöld viewpoints, you will arrive at the hike’s starting point. The terrain is fairly flat with only one steeper part so this journey will be feasible for most travelers. Views of the “cuernos”, or horns of Paine will be in front of you at all times, becoming more and more breathtaking with each step. Visit the “Salto Grande” or “Big Waterfall” along the hike, and continue across the shores of Lake Nordenskjöld. From the final viewpoint, you can appreciate the massif’s complex geologic structure looming above.
Today you will be able to choose from the activities offered by Tierra Patagonia. We suggest wandering along the Hunters Trail.
This trek starts gradually, winding its way northwards, with the Paine Massif as a source of motivation every step of the way. Halfway through, you will discover a rocky area full of cave paintings from the Aonikenk, an ancient hunter-gatherer community that occupied this area some 6,000 years ago. It is also one of the best areas to see wildlife such as guanacos, foxes, and condors.
This morning we will escort you to the airport for your flight to Chile’s rugged desert region. At the appropriate time, you will be transferred to the airport for a short flight to the little town of San Pedro de Atacama.
When you land, we’ll help escort you to the Explora Lodge for an indulgent getaway. Explora Atacama is located in Ayllu de Larache, a community based on the kinship of the ancient Aymara indigenous group.
During the morning you will enjoy some activities organized by the incredible team of hosts at Explora. The Lodge offers over 40 different guided hikes, bike rides, mountain treks, and horseback rides, in groups of a maximum of 8 travelers. All the excursions have different difficulty levels, ranging from easy to expert, and different durations, from half day to full day. This means every traveler will find their perfect desert adventure during the day, before enjoying a stargazing session at the Explora observatory in the evening.
Indulge with a day spent at leisure doing any other activity from the lodge.
We recommend you ask the Explora team about the dinners in the lodge’s Quincho. Two to three times a week, you can enjoy a traditional barbeque of lamb, beef, and fish, as well as other local dishes – all accompanied by Andean music and song and dance performances by accomplished local artists.
In the morning, feel free to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and wander the self-guided trails around Explora’s property, or simply relax in the comfortable lodge accommodations.
At the appropriate time, we will escort you from the lodge to the airport for your flight back to the capital city of Santiago. Spend your last day in Chile wandering the vibrant city, learning about its unique history and treasured culture.
Going home is the worst part of any private Chile vacation, but at Kuoda, we’ll do our best to make it as smooth and hassle-free as possible. We’ll bring you to the airport for your return flight for the journey home. Buen Viaje!
