When your flight arrives in Lima, a Kuoda host will welcome you personally and escort you to the hotel. Instead of navigating a new city after a long flight, let us take care of the transportation logistics. We will drop you off at your hotel so you can refresh and enjoy a peaceful evening before the real excursion starts. Relax with a good night’s rest before your morning flight to Cusco.
After a restful night’s sleep, enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet in the hotel before embarking on your journey to Cusco. It’s a short flight, and the kids will be kept entertained by the mystifying views of the Andes out the plane window.
Once you touch down in Cusco, a Kuoda host will escort the family to an inviting lunch before taking you to the Sacred Valley. The drive there will be its own adventure as we make our first stop is the Cochahuasi Rescue Center. This family-run organization rescues and cares for animals that have been neglected by previous owners, illegal hunters, and poachers. Your family will meet a variety of animals – from vicunas, llamas, and alpacas, to Andean Condors and perhaps even a puma. This trip will be a fun yet educational lesson on the importance of wildlife conservation and sustainability efforts.
The last stop is at the Awanakancha Living Museum. Watch in awe as the master weavers get to work or pet the cuddly llamas and alpacas grazing nearby. Before long, you’ll be totally immersed in the Peruvian countryside. Here, cows and sheep seem to outnumber people, and the dramatic silhouette of the Andes frames the picture. Enjoy a restful night with your family at the hotel of your choice.
Today we will add both adventure and art to your family vacation to Peru. After breakfast, you will head to the shores of Lake Piuray for a morning of sailing. The whole family will receive a quick safety lesson before climbing aboard the kayak and paddling through tranquil waters, an excellent place to study the local flora and fauna! Once you return to dry land, enjoy a delicious picnic lunch.
At Kuoda, we know that children like to get their hands dirty to engage all their senses, which is why you will enjoy an interactive, hands-on activity during your Peru family tour. This afternoon, you’ll get creative during a pottery workshop in the town of Urubamba. There’s no better way to learn about the artistic traditions of Peru than making your own ceramic souvenirs.
This is the moment all Peruvian explorers wait for. Board a luxurious train in Ollantaytambo and watch the cloud jungle pass by through the large glass windows. See if you and the kids can spot some alpacas grazing in the valley outside. The second leg of your trip to Machu Picchu will be a short bus ride. Upon arrival, enjoy a little lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge where you’ll get a taste of the breathtaking views surrounding this mountaintop citadel.
Your luxury tour of Machu Picchu continues after lunch as you and your family enter the ancient site. Seeing the astonishing Inca stonework in person will surpass any and every expectation you may have. An expert guide will take the family on a private tour of the cloud-level citadel, explaining the history and secrets of this mysterious ancient city.
Return to Aguas Calientes this evening and fall asleep to the sound of the humming cloud forest around you.
Today you have the option to hike two different trails – Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, so it’s completely up to you! This will be the culmination of your Machu Picchu luxury tour, so enjoy it however you want. Adventurous travelers who desire something off-the-beaten-path should hike the steep slope of Huayna Picchu, offering unrivaled views of Machu Picchu. Please note that only a limited amount of hikers are allowed to climb Huayna Picchu each day and tickets will need to be purchased in advance along with your Machu Picchu entrance.
In the afternoon, reconvene in Aguas Calientes and board the return train to Ollantaytambo. Your Kuoda host will meet you at the station and bring you to your hotel for a well-deserved good night’s rest.
Prepare to fall in love with Cusco, a gorgeous city that wins the heart of almost every traveler that passes through it. A private tour is the best way to learn about this historic city and uncover the best insider secrets. After breakfast, meet your guide and wander among the archaeological remains of Sacsayhuaman, where the Incas staged a great battle against the conquistadors. Return to the city and venture through the bohemian neighborhood of San Blas, a hub of artistic inspiration. Explore Qoricancha and the Santo Domingo monastery, a colonial structure built on top of the ancient Inca temple of the sun. Live like a local and grab some groceries in the open-air San Pedro market for a delightful shopping experience!
At the end of the tour, your guide will suggest a few places to enjoy a delicious lunch, but be sure to save some room! You’ll want to indulge in the next adventure as much as possible.
Make your way to the Chocolate Museum for a sweet afternoon. After all, you are in the birthplace of chocolate, so this is a fantastic chance to learn about the rich, beloved treat. You’ll even get the chance to make your own chocolate truffles, a delectable souvenir.
This morning, we’ll transport you to the Cusco airport for a morning flight to Lima, the finale of your family vacation to Peru. As you soar through the skies, remember to peek out the window to watch the snow-dusted Andes give way to the coastal desert. Upon arrival in Lima, your Kuoda Lima host will meet you and bring you to your hotel in Lima’s Miraflores district.
In the evening, change into something you don’t mind getting wet as you’ll be heading to Lima’s “Magical Water Circuit.” Set in a city park, this fountain display is a perfect family adventure. The choreographed light, water, and sound showcases are a marvel to behold, and many of the fountains are interactive. Your whole family will cherish the memories of splashing around in these colorful fountains.
This morning, you can either have some time to sleep in and enjoy your hotel’s facilities or explore trendy Miraflores – an attractive oceanfront neighborhood, and one of the city’s premier shopping and dining destinations. Later in the morning, we will take you on one last adventure to a traditional hacienda in the Lurin area of Lima. You will have an opportunity to explore the grounds and stables while learning about the colonial and Republican periods of Peruvian history. During lunch, get ready for an exciting “Marinera” dance show and equestrian demonstration.
The remainder of the afternoon and evening will be yours to spend as you wish before we take you to the airport for your international flight home. Buen viaje!
