When your flight arrives in Bogota, a Kuoda host will welcome you personally and escort you to the hotel. Instead of navigating a new city after a long flight, let us take care of the transportation logistics. We will drop you off at your hotel so you can refresh and enjoy a peaceful evening before your romantic honeymoon experience begins. Relax with a good night’s rest before exploring Bogota in the morning.
During your private tour of Colombia’s capital city, you will start at the Paloquemao market, abundant with fresh food and flowers. This market also offers great insight into the life and customs of local Bogotans. Next, head to La Candelaria which is Bogota’s heart and soul. This is the oldest neighborhood in the city, and the Plaza Bolivar is a must-see while traveling here.
Next, your guide will escort you to the Gold Museum, home to one of the finest collections of Pre-Hispanic gold artifacts in the world. With more than 35,000 pieces of pre-Colombian gold works in the collection, this museum offers a fascinating look into the history of the region. Be sure to view the golden raft, which is one of the most important pieces on display, and was the driving force in the Spaniard’s quest to find El Dorado.
In the morning, we will escort you to the airport for your flight to Pereira where you will get to explore Colombia’s famous coffee region.
For many people, this is the cultural epicenter of Colombia. With every turn, a spectacular panorama view unfolds before your eyes, from the rolling hillsides of fertile coffee plantations to plunging valleys and bold elevations. Staying in one of the many fincas or haciendas provides an opportunity to get a feel for the ambiance and harmony of the land while enjoying some well-deserved rest.
Today’s tour takes you on a culturally rich journey through the coffee region and soaking up the natural beauty of the Cocora Valley. Today, you will explore all that Quindío has to offer. Sip some of the finest coffee in the world while enjoying a tour of one of the local plantations.
Then, it’s onto Cocora Valley where the magnificent Wax Palm grows. This majestic landscape offers views you can only imagine, like something out of a movie. Part of the wider Parque Nacional Los Nevados, the valley is located on the eastern limits of Quindío along the central Andean range. While hiking through the lush, rolling terrain, couples will feel nothing but gratitude that they got to share this experience together.
The City of Eternal Spring is calling for you! Today, you will make your way to the second-largest city in Colombia, regarded as one of the most important, in business, politics, fashion, and nightlife. Medellin is now one of the most exciting cities in South America and is regarded as one of the safest. Medellin is famous for its “Feria de las Flores” which happens every August for a week. The Feria is a carnival atmosphere with processions of flower growers, music, dance, and the arts. Medellin is also the hometown of Fernando Botero, arguably Colombia’s most recognized artist to date. His oversized depictions of Colombian life, people, and world issues are exhibited throughout the country most notably in the Botero Museum in Bogota and Medellin’s own Museo de Antioquia.
Today’s tour offers you the opportunity to experience the city from a different perspective. Whether you are an experienced cyclist or just enjoy going for a leisurely ride once in a while, the tour is suitable for all levels of fitness. After a brief introduction, you will start the tour, passing by one of the city’s main universities, the Botanical Garden, Planetarium, and Parque Explora interactive museum until you reach Moravia. This quaint, authentic neighborhood, once used as the city’s garbage dump, has been undergoing a significant transformation, thanks to a range of urban development projects. As you ride through Moravia’s maze-like streets, you will have the chance to experience the bustling atmosphere of daily life in Medellin’s most densely populated neighborhood.
Located atop the spectacular mountains which surround the city of Medellín, and offering a perfect contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city, Arvi Park is a stunning natural environment of 16,000 hectares which was developed for the enjoyment of the residents of the city and the surrounding villages. There are many hiking trails that can be enjoyed in a fresh cooler climate with bubbling mountain streams and pine forests. Santa Elena is a small flower-growing village located less than one hour from the city and during its main festival is the center of activity when the cut flowers are woven into tapestries which are then mounted onto wooden frames that the inhabitants of the town will carry on their backs in the parade through the streets of Medellin.
Today, you’ll fly out to Colombia’s most beautiful port city, Cartagena. The expedition begins at the Castillo San Felipe, the largest Spanish fortification in the Americas, which dominates Old Town. Underneath this amazing structure, you will find a labyrinth of tunnels. The sun-soaked fortification is full of ancient stories to learn about during your tour. Some of the tunnels are lit and accessible to visitors, so if you’re curious, step into this living, breathing history book.
There are few things more romantic than an early evening traditional horse and cart ride along the cobbled streets of Cartagena’s old town. Couples will finish their first night in Cartagena, winding along the lanes decorated with colonial buildings, balconies of flowers, and a cool Caribbean breeze.
Today will give you the opportunity to discover one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the Caribbean. A fast motor boat departs directly from the pier and will take you on a 60-minute ride through the Bay of Cartagena to the beautiful crystal clear waters of the Rosario Island archipelago. This group of 27 islands is surrounded by coral reefs and is the perfect location to go snorkeling and swimming from the pristine white sandy beaches.
On arrival at the island, you will have time to relax, sunbathe and enjoy a swim and refreshment. After lunch, you will have time to relax and enjoy a final swim in the Caribbean before returning to Cartagena on your speedboat.
Going home is the worst part of any private Colombia vacation, but at Kuoda, we’ll do our best to make it as smooth and hassle-free as possible. We’ll bring you to the airport for your return flight for the journey home. Buen Viaje!
