Kaypi Kunan Initiative

ENRICHING THE LIVES OF

Our Communities

Kaypi Kunan means “here and now” in the Quechua language of the Andean indigenous
people who Kuoda aims to support and protect through the Kaypi Kunan Association.

Our Peruvian-based non-profit is oriented in social assistance and focused on education and support for Andean communities. Our
motivation is to leave a positive footprint in the world and invite you to take part in this beautiful project by actively participating in the
change that the world needs.

Education First

We believe that supporting our own communities from within
is the best way to increase the possibilities of personal development in Peru.

Whether its providing books and computers, facilitating youth programs or improving Spanish literacy, through our
projects we seek to strengthen and empower Andean children and adults, developing enriching educational activities
that promote learning with values.

Our Story

In 2007, Kaypi Kunan opened its first study hall in the Umasbamba community in order
to provide an after-school alternative to the local children and youth.

Recognizing an opportunity to stimulate the growth and empowerment of this community through education, we devised a plan to
expand our reach. The Kid’s Learning Center was inaugurated as a way to give children the opportunity to empower themselves
through education.

Today, more than two-thirds of school-age children in the community visit the Kid’s Learning Center to receive educational support
and counseling daily after school. We have had an uninterrupted presence in Umasbamba over the last few years, making it possible
for many of the children who started in the program to be attending higher education.

KID’S LEARNING CENTER

COMPUTER CENTER

Our training centers are established in six independent Andean communities, offering computer classes to residents five days a week. Our goal is to maximize computer access to increase self-sufficiency and computer literacy, creating greater opportunities for personal and professional development.

THE ROLLING LIBRARY

The Rolling Library project consists of a mobile unit complete with books donated by guests that reaches communities where access to education is limited. People of all ages are offered guided reading and invited to participate in storytelling in order to stimulate creativity and imagination.

STRINGS FOR FREEDOM

Art is a powerful tool to transmit the ethical and moral values that help shape life in society. Through violin lessons, the Strings For Freedom project aims to awaken interest and love for music, based on the aptitudes and artistic vocation of people of all ages, regardless of their training.
