We booked a cruise through the Panama Canal ending in Lima in January/February 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic forced a halt to international travel. I thought we might as well stay over and tour Lima and perhaps Macchu Picchu. The cruise line had a tour but it was not customized so we heard about Kuoda Travel from a friend. I emailed the website and Marina emailed me back within a day. She offered to call us to learn more of our desires and our physical abilities. After one call we had two options to review and we modified one of the options further to stay for 8 days with the guides from Kuoda. We were completely impressed by every guide from the tour in Lima to the gastro tour of Lima and all the perfect arrangements to get to the airport and on to Cusco. There we met another staff member who introduced us to our guide for the next 6 days. Those days were filled with many tours of historical places and cultural experiences throughout the Sacred Valley, all at a good pace. We even customized the tours on the spot!! Our visit to Macchu Picchu and staying at the hotel at the entrance was spectacular and a once-in-a-lifetime experience; all made better by our knowledgeable guide who even encouraged us to hiked up Huayna Picchu, the mountain behind many photos! The tours of Cusco museums were impressive especially with the guide. Hotels were first rate and the restaurants they chose and suggested were fabulous. Mery even met us for breakfast on our last day in Cusco which was a real treat. When (not if!) we return to Peru, Kuoda Travel will be our first and only call for a customized itinerary and excellent guides. They handled everything and every small detail and made it first-class experience!
