LATAM to Offer Direct Flight Between Cusco and Trujillo From July 2017
Starting this July 2017, LATAM Airlines Perú will begin to offer direct flights between the cities of Cusco and Trujillo. Previously, a flight between northern and southern Peru required a connection at the Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima.
Currently 85% of foreign tourist arrivals to Peru visit only the south of the country. Corporate Affairs Manager for LATAM Airlines Perú, Antonio Olórtegui, believes this new route could change that, making northern Peru and its archaeological attractions, like Chan Chan and the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipán, more easily accessible for travelers.
Flights between Cusco and Trujillo will depart from both cities tri-weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. LATAM Airlines Perú projects the new service will transport more than 3,000 passengers each month via the 144-passenger Airbus A319.
Prices for LATAM’s new Cusco-Trujillo route start at 55 USD. The flight duration will be approximately 50 minutes in each direction, cutting the previous travel time virtually in half and eliminating some of the congestion at the airport in Lima
Tickets for this route went on sale Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
