When to travel to Peru? Considering that Peru is categorized as one of the 17 megadiverse countries on earth, you have a variety of climates and seasons to consider. That being said, you can visit Peru year-round depending on where you would like to visit. However, if you are looking to explore the Amazonian rainforest or traverse through the Andes Mountains, many travelers choose to avoid the rainy season which runs from November to March with its peak between January and February. Visiting from April through October lands you in the generally dry winter season, which is an excellent time to visit Machu Picchu, experience a world-class trek, traverse the exotic Amazon Rain forest not to mention the other amazing destinations Peru has to offer. Speak with a Kuoda Travel Designer today to discover the best time for you to experience a luxury tour of Peru.

    Why You should Visit Peru

    The World Famous Cuisine

    Peru World Famous Cuisine

Peru has been a culinary star on the international gastronomic scene for a long time now, winning the “Best Culinary Destination” distinction from the World Travel Awards for eight consecutive years! Home to incredible super foods like quinoa, maca, cocoa, purple corn, and more than 4,000 varieties of potatoes, Peruvian dishes boast a flavor profile like nowhere else in the world!

Adventure activities for the whole family

Adventure activities for the whole family

Peru is an extremely family-friendly destination. There are countless adventure activities and interactive experiences for the whole family, even for children as young as four! Depending on the activity and individual age limits, you can all paddle board or kayak on high-altitude lakes, white-water raft in the Andes, swim with pink Amazon river dolphins, bike to ancient salt pans, parasail over the coast in Lima, and this is just scratching the surface of what’s possible.

    Incredibly diverse geography

    Incredibly diverse geography

When you travel to Peru, you can choose between exploring the coastal desert, Amazon rainforest, the Andes mountains, or all three! Inevitably you will also get to experience the incredible number of microclimates layered in between these three main geographic zones – 90 microclimates to be exact. Peru also contains 30 of the 32 climate types in the world, which also makes it one of the world’s most diverse countries when it comes to geography.

    Fascinating Archeological Sites

    Peru Fascinating Archeological Sites

In addition to Machu Picchu, Peru houses some of the most well-preserved archaeological sites in the world stemming from the Inca Empire, and well before. Sprawling complexes, like the still-functional Inca architecture of Ollantaytambo, instantly transport visitors back in time. Other sites like Choquequirao and Kuelap offer the adventure of a lifetime, allowing visitors to slowly hike away from civilization into the Andes or dense Peruvian rainforest. You can have your adventure and learn about some fascinating history too!

Some of the best trekking in the Andes

    Why visit peru inca trail

Of course the 4-day Inca Trail makes it onto many a trekker’s bucket list, but did you know there are two equally rewarding hiking options on the way to Machu Picchu? Only the Inca Trail can take you directly to Machu Picchu on foot. However, if you don’t manage to snag a coveted spot on the Inca Trail, you can enjoy one of these alternative routes. The Lares trek starts at some healing mineral hot springs and then takes you to visit various Quechua communities. And the Salkantay trek gets you an up close and personal experience with breathtaking glaciers and vast landscapes!

    Incredibly diverse geography

Why visit peru festivals and cultural heritage

Boisterous crowds, colorful dancers, joyous refrains, the crackle-pop of fireworks, and elaborate pomp and circumstance fill Peruvian festivals. These exciting events take place year round, many having to do with the Catholic calendar, however the most concentrated festival season takes place between April and August. This season starts with Semana Santa (Holy Week) and culminates in small-town Virgin saint celebrations all throughout the country. One of the most coveted, called Inti Raymi, reenacts the Inca winter solstice celebration in Cusco.
