It might not be the cheapest option for travel in Peru, but Kuoda Travel is definitely worth the higher cost. Everything from the travel planning in advance to the excellent service and outstanding guides throughout our July 2013 three-week trip was simply wonderful. They offered flexibility in choosing our trip options, were responsive to our feedback to the initial itinerary they presented (for example, we asked for hotels that were not international chains and they came back with lovely, local boutique hotels with charm and character), and were incredibly quick to respond with confirmations for our chosen dates when we were ready to book our flight.

The guides in Peru are all free-lance and local, and so we had a different guide for each region we visited. Across the board, Kuoda chose excellent guides who were knowledgable, nice, fun, punctual and when we asked them about their experience working for Kuoda (as free-lancers) we could tell that it was a favorite of theirs for trips to guide.

Kuoda worked to make our experience more personal, for example a lunch on Taquile Island (Lake Titicaca) was on a private outside deck for just the four of us traveling together, where we noticed lunch set for 20+ participants elsewhere. For the few occasions that we needed to be part of a larger group, they chose the highest quality outfitter, as with Llama Path on our Inca Trail hike.

We very quickly discovered that we had nothing to worry about anywhere that we went and that we were in good hands throughout the trip. The accommodations were great. We can’t say enough good things about the guides. And Mery Calderon, the owner, was very eager to make a personal connection with each group who booked with Kuoda. She came to the Cusco airport to meet us herself. Kuoda relies on word of mouth for finding new customers. We’re happy to join the group of people who praise Kuoda Travel and would recommend it to anyone.
