Ethical and sustainable travel
At the heart of Kuoda, we believe in the importance of promoting responsible business practices, and take our ethical and social responsibilities very seriously. Properly developed tourism can and should promote a sense of pride and dignity among the people that you visit. Through tourism, communities often learn to better value their traditions, fiestas, stories and traditional arts, which results in helping them to maintain their culture.
We like to bring our visitors to unknown areas of Peru in small groups, and only our guests who have a genuine desire to understand local customs and people. We approach cultures with both humbleness and reverence, enabling us to create a true dialogue with the people and enrich the lives of both the visitor and the community member. At Kuoda we believe very strongly that the benefits of tourism should always outweigh the costs.
Environmental responsibility
In the Quechuan tradition there is a strong belief in the power of the earth. At Kuoda our respect for the planet, or "Pachamama" is no different. We always seek to provide our visitors with unique and culturally authentic travel experiences that both protect and preserve the ecological environment they visit. We take every measure to ensure that we have minimal impact on the zones that we visit, which is one of the reasons why we prefer to travel in small groups, and only work with suppliers, guides, and lodges that understand the need to care for the environment.
Kuoda is an active member of APTAE, the Peruvian Association of Adventure Tourism, a nonprofit organization that promotes adventure and ecological tourism in Peru in order to preserve and benefit the environment. Kuoda's passion for the environment goes beyond this webpage; many of our staff are volunteers and conservationists, working with earthquake prevention programs, river clean up campaigns, reforestation projects, and various social projects in local communities.
